Marjorie Kaye

Marjorie Kaye is a Boston-based artist whose artwork spans both painting and sculpture. She has a BFA in Painting from Syracuse University and has conducted graduate work in printmaking. Kaye is well-known for her exploration of opposites, combining elements such as form and color, and organic and geometric shapes to create dynamic and energetic compositions.

Kaye’s art often delves into themes of spirituality and interconnectedness, using mandala forms to symbolize the universe and guide viewers into a sacred internal space. Her works are characterized by bold colors and intricate designs that reflect her fascination with sacred geometry and natural forms. She views her artistic process as a spiritual practice, constantly exploring the mysteries of existence and the connections between all living things​​. Her artistic process is also influenced by her deep engagement with music, especially the works of Johann Sebastian Bach. Kaye draws inspiration from Bach’s meticulous and ordered compositions, reflecting this structured yet expressive quality in her art. Her sculptures often resemble the fluidity and rhythm of musical sequences, embodying the harmony and balance found in natural phenomena​​.

In addition to her personal artistic endeavors, Kaye has significantly contributed to the art community. She founded Galatea Fine Art in Boston, an artist-run gallery that supports over 39 artists, and served as its director from 2009 to 2017. She is also the Western Massachusetts correspondent for ArtScope Magazine, covering gallery and museum exhibitions in the Berkshires area, as well as Art Basel Miami for the 2022 edition of the event. Her artwork has been widely exhibited in galleries such as Atlantic Works Gallery and the Walter Wickiser Gallery in NYC, and she has received notable recognition, including the Lillian Orlowsky/William Freed Foundation Grant from the Provincetown Art Association and Museum in 2016​​. Her artwork has been reviewed in many publications including the Boston Globe and ArtScope Magazine, the Boston Voyager, and the Metapsychosis Journal.
