The central image in this match box shrine, Earthly Joy, is part of a scapular found in a dumpster in Butte, Montana. Scapulars are worn by Catholics under their clothing. They have always fascinated me. The very word, scapular, is mysterious. The lurid crime magazine stitched corners juxtapose the spiritual imagery.
