Seth Clark: House Portrait (white & gray)

Clark builds his collages with layers of paper, piecing together the fragmented textures of decay. Once the structure starts to take shape, he brings in charcoal, pastel, and graphite. His mark-making that doesn’t just define edges, it also pulls depth and energy from the surface. The process is a back-and-forth between collage and drawing, each informing the other until the two become inseparable. It’s a slow build, sometimes taking months for a form to emerge from the chaos of scraps and scribbles. But as Clark puts it, his work lets “something energized and present escape from a slow history of abandonment.”
