In this masquerade, the masks stare back. Di Quinzio blends surreal figuration with erotic absurdity, a tangled scene where roles, faces, and limbs swap places at will. Named after Beethoven’s only opera, Mascherata di Fidelio plays on themes of identity, loyalty, and disguise. But in Di Quinzio's version, no one’s rescuing anyone. The red bra becomes a prop, a provocation. Intimacy feels theatrical, gestures feel exaggerated and stiff. Did everyone rehearse desire in a mirror and forget which reflection they were supposed to be?
