Mary Becker: Botanical Buddha

In March 2020 before quarantine began, Becker went to visit her family in Santa Barbara. Knowing how she needs to entertain herself, Becker packed paint and printing materials. She taught herself how to mono print over the course of those two weeks in Santa Barbara and pulled three hundred botanical prints on the ping pong table using plants from the garden. The prints sat in a box for months until she found them late in the year, nine months into the quarantine. She decided to make a Limited Edition Series of some of her favorites and had the original mono prints digitally transferred to canvas. Becker then embellished each print with collage papers, inks, paint, and line work.
