Joshua Hogan’s paintings are soft and insistent. Layers of color are applied and thinned until shapes drift in and out of clarity. These shapes, which Hogan calls wayfarers, appear as impressions held in a state of becoming. Color carries the emotional weight of the artwork. Translucent veils hover over denser passages, allowing light to remain visible on the surface. Edges blur and re-form, creating a sense of motion that feels internal like breath. Hogan’s paintings are about sensation. They invite reflection on the unseen forces that shape us. Meaning gathers slowly through proximity, by staying with the artwork long enough to feel it.
