Jeffrey Smith: Constellations 5

For centuries, people have taken their bearings from the constellations. Jeffrey Smith's recent work develops that idea through two interconnected bodies of work. Bearings consists of sculptures assembled from stone, bark, beads, and found objects that explore orientation and the markers that shape our understanding of landscape. Constellations extends that inquiry across the wall through beadwork, found objects, and organic materials mounted to panel, where negative space is as active as the forms themselves.
