All In My Grill
1977 Chrysler Grill (Museum of Graffiti Car), 1 Shot Enamel
12" X 31" X 1 1/2"
2026
All In My Grill uses a 1977 Chrysler grill as both structure and surface. The original grid which was engineered for airflow and protection becomes the dominant visual system, repeating across the width of this artwork with minimal intervention. Coated in red enamel, the grill’s functional identity is flattened into pattern. Openings, bars, and framing elements remain intact, but their purpose shifts from utility to visibility. The artwork is aggressively frontal: a screen presented directly at us. By preserving the grill’s industrial logic while isolating it from the vehicle, Sauer turns a familiar automotive component into a declarative object that is defined by repetition and alignment rather than motion.
