Ellen Silberlicht: Plenty for All

Ellen Silberlicht's sculptures combine the earthy, crackled textures of raku-fired ceramics with the fuzzy, softness of felted wool. The Raku vessel is fired first and then wool fibers are chosen to compliment the magical colors that resulted in the firing. In Plenty for All, branches with red berry-like forms emerge from the raku vessel. This striking combination of rigid ceramics and flexible fibers creates a compelling contrast that invites us to explore its rich textures and thoughtful design.
