Artist Tiffany Budzisz is recognized for her intricate cut paper relief sculptures, artworks built through meticulously hand-cut and layered paper forms that create depth, luminosity, and sculptural dimension. Her compositions often explore flora, fauna, anatomical motifs, and the symbolic connections between nature and human experience. Budzisz’s artwork examines the balance between fragility and strength, drawing visual parallels between botanical structures, biological forms, and the cycles of endurance and renewal.

Budzisz’s process begins with detailed drawings and precise structural planning, ensuring each layer functions as part of a cohesive whole. She selects papers intentionally for their weight, tone, and texture, shaping and cutting each component with precision tools before assembling them into multidimensional reliefs. Light and shadow become active elements in the finished artwork, shifting across the surface as layers interact. Her influences include global paper-cutting traditions, the cut-paper works of Henri Matisse, and artists such as Georgia O’Keeffe, whose botanical and anatomical imagery resonate with her own. Themes of biology, botany, and lived experience, particularly the parallels she sees between the resilience of plants and the experiences of women, inform both her subject matter and her approach.

Budzisz’s artwork has been exhibited in her solo exhibition Hearts & Healing at UPMC Jameson Hospital in collaboration with The Hoyt Arts Center, as well as with BoxHeart Gallery, PxP Contemporary/Paradigm Gallery, Fe Gallery, Manifest Gallery, the Three Rivers Arts Festival, and the McNeese National Works on Paper Exhibition. She earned a B.F.A. in Communication Arts & Design from Virginia Commonwealth University and currently lives and works in the greater Pittsburgh area.
