Alexis Dillon: Raku Animals

Alexis Dillon is a Pittsburgh-based fine art photographer whose three-decade-long practice transforms the invisible into luminous imagery through panoramic infrared photography. Working with formats ranging from 35 mm and panorama to Polaroid and digital infrared, she hand-colors and tones her artwork to reveal dreamlike landscapes shaped by light, heat, humidity, and elevation. Educated in Visual Arts & Photography Instruction at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Alexis spent 30 years teaching before focusing on her studio process. Her award-winning work, named Photographer of the Year by Westmoreland Art Nationals three times, has been exhibited at solo venues like the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts and Silver Eye Center, as well as group shows at institutions including the Carnegie Museum of Art and Southern Alleghenies Museum. Alexis is an active member of the local art community through affiliations with Associated Artists of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh Society of Artists, and Silver Eye Center for Photography.
