Erin Treacy is a Queens NYC, based artist exploring abstraction and the use of line through drawing, painting, and sculptural assemblages. She looks at overlaps in our understanding of time, patterns, divergence, and associative reflection, connecting visuals in our landscape to human experience.
Her solo and two person exhibitions include Reservoir Space, Ridegewood NY (2017), The Paper Factory, Queens NY (2017), Flux Art Fair, NY NY (2016), BoxHeart Gallery, Pittsburgh PA (2009, 2011, 2015). Group Exhibitions include BRIC, Brooklyn NY (2016), Pratt Institute, Brooklyn NY (2016), Casalmaggiore Contemporary, Casalmaggiore Italy (2014), and C24 Gallery, NY NY (2013). Selected awards include Queens Council on the Arts Grant and Residency (2017), The Wassaic Project, Wassaic NY (2017), 2 Rooms Contemporary Art Project, New Foundland CA (2016), Turkey Land Cove Foundation, Martha’s Vineyard Ma (2016), The Lerman Trust, Scranton PA, 2014 and the Sam & Adele Golden Foundation, New Berlin NY (2012). She has participated in numerous international residencies throughout eastern and western Europe. Her artwork has been reviewed by The Wall Street Journal, NY1, Artnet News, Art Info, and the Pittsburgh Tribune.
From 2008 – 2013, she co-directed Roving Project, a wandering proposition occupying slack spaces, transforming them into short term sites of contemporary art within the community. She currently is the curator at Sunny’s in Redhook Brooklyn. In addition to her position at Rutgers, she teaches at the Maryland Institute College of Art, where she is also the Fulbright Program Advisor. She was the recipient of the Fulbright Fellowship to Ireland, 2009-10, where she researched geological diversity in relation to abstract painting. She received her BFA from Pratt Institute (2004) and her MFA from UMASS Dartmouth (2007).
