Mark Neuherz
Nature has been a motivating factor of Mark Neuherz's artwork for many years. Hiking and exploring new trails while observing nature is the primary source of his inspiration. Neuherz is captivated by the intrinsic balance of nature. The light filtering through the trees, the movement of water, leaves falling or blowing across the landscape, all combine creatiung a rhythmic form and composition for his artwork.
Neuherz works with color pencil, graphite, and paint. He has been developing his own artistic technique for more than thirty years. He finds the smallest elements of nature just as fascinating as nature's grand panoramic views. He uses these elements as building blocks in his artwork, adding them one by one until his artwork is complete. Upon close inspection, there are hundreds and hundreds of little drawings within each of Neuherz's compositions.
Neuherz studied fine art, painting, and sculpture at Community College of Allegheny County. Detail-oriented, he worked doing precision measuring and cutting of materials in a manufacturing job for 21 years. In 2008 he returned to creating artwork, specializing in drawing with color pencil. The most frequent remark about his artwork is that it is patient and unique. Neuherz believes the time he invests in his artwork is worth it when his finished drawing emerges from the paper. He is currently a full time artist living in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with his wife and two cats.
