Bruce Bitmead

Bruce Philip Bitmead was born in Buffalo New York in the spring of 1963. He graduated from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh in 1983, beginning to paint in earnest that same year. He has been exhibiting his artwork since 1987, mostly in Illinois, Pennsylvania, and New York, with solo shows in California and London, England. Bitmead spent much of the '80s and '90s working as a graphic designer and illustrator in Chicago, but returned to Buffalo in 1998, to concentrate on his personal artwork. Local exhibition venues include the Albright Knox Art Gallery, the Burchfield Penney Art Center, and numerous Buffalo galleries. Bitmead's small landscapes and abstracts were accomplished with acrylic on panels, and painted mostly with his fingers, sometimes a brush.
